PRE-PEEL TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Ideally, you should be on home-care products with glycolic acid for at least two weeks without irritation prior to your first procedure.  This will help you to derive the most benefit from the treatment.

§         Prior to any of the series of six treatments, avoid using clay masks, scrub grains, or abrasive puffs.

§         Do not use self-tanning agents for at least three days prior to your treatment.

§         Do not use Retin-A/Renova for 48 hours before or after your treatment.

§         If you have a breakout of cold sores, fever blisters or herpes anywhere on the face before your scheduled appointment notify your attending physician or esthetician.

§         Avoid sun burning of the face as this will mandate that your appointment be rescheduled.

POST-PEEL HOME CARE TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

It is important that you always use a sunblock of at least SPF 15, but it is particularly important that you do so while doing the series of glycolic treatments.  Drink lots of water.

§         Exercise, sauna, whirlpool, and hot tubs immediately after this procedure should be avoided (perspiration is salty and can cause drying and flaking of the skin); it is preferable to wait until the next day.

§         Do not use any products containing glycolic acid on your face on the day of your treatment.  (This includes facial cleansers or shampoo, lotion cream, moisturizer or make up.)  It is suggested that you wait 24 hours after a treatment before resuming use of these products.

§         Do not use Retin-A/Renova for 48 hors after your treatment.

§         If small patches of irritation occur, apply a hydrocortisone cream on the area, or Catrix, or apply a solution made of one tablespoon of white vinegar to one pint of water for 10 minutes twice daily.  Stop after two to three days.  DO NOT PULL ANY SKIN OFF OF YOUR FACE – NO MATTER HOW SMALL THE AREA-AS THIS MAY CAUSE SCARRING.

§         If undue irritation occurs while using the home products, discontinue using products containing glycolic acid until you contact your attending physician or esthetician,

§         It is within limits to experience a slight crusting of the face; also come discoloration may occur.  All of these occurrences are temporary.

§         Whenever you have any concerns, please contact your attending physician or esthetician.

DAY 1:  Skin may feel sensitive and show signs of redness.

DO NOT SCRATCH or PICK at the skin, it will scar.

v     Immediately following treatment avoid sun exposure.  Apply light moisturizer and sunscreen if you are going to be outdoors.

v     It is best not to apply make up until the following day if possible.  This gives the skin opportunity to settle down.  If your treatment is in the A.M., make-up may be applied that evening.

v     EVENING of your treatment:  Cleanse skin gently with appropriate cleanser and apply moisturizer.  Do not use home care AHA’s or Retin A

DAY 2:  Resume normal skin care routine.  Still avoid direct sun exposure.

v     Do not begin using home care AHAs or Retin A if there is any sensitivity or irritation.

v     You should start peeling if you have done an aggressive peel (H2O2 lightening peel,  TCA/Salycilic, orVitamin A) - you will peel around the mouth first, chin, cheeks, nose, then forehead is the last) -

v     Apply EGF(Epidermal Growth Factor) cream  to itchy, sensitive area gently.

v     If you are peeling(flaking) too much - then wet a clean towel with warm water, and gently rub the area in a circular motion.
